Recently, seven vehicle manufacturers, including FAW, Dongfeng, SAIC, Changan, BAIC, GAC and Brilliance, as well as Beijing Nonferrous Metals Research Institute and Tianjin Lishen Battery Co., Ltd., jointly initiated the establishment of Guojia Automotive Power Battery Research Institute in Beijing. Industry insiders commented that the establishment of the research institute is an important attempt by the automotive industry to jointly promote the core technology of new energy vehicles to break the ice.
It is understood that Guojia Automobile Power Battery Research Institute will mainly focus on the research of lithium-ion power batteries, while carrying out scientific research on fuel cells, nickel-metal hydride batteries and other types of power batteries. In addition to major car companies, Tianjin Lishen, one of the initiators, is the representative brand of lithium batteries in China, with a market share of the top five in the world.
According to Dong Yang, secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the institution will recruit talents from all over the world, obtain income through the transfer of research results, improve operational efficiency and achievement transformation efficiency in a market-oriented operation mode, and the vision is to establish a world-class power battery technology research institution.
